what I've been working on

This piece is a bit less than 3 inches in diameter, the edges of the flower petals are worked in buttonhole stitch, over wire. The middle petals have a section of detached leaves, also worked over wire (this was a pain to do by the way) and I learned an important lesson, do your french knots *before* doing your woven picots. (they get tangled, and telling someone that your french knots are all tangled in your picots simply sounds dirty, dirty, dirty)

full view front

Here's the back
Doing stem stitch, on top of detached buttonhole, was not my smartest decision. (though it does look good) there was a lot of bleeding on that one.
back and signature

Here's a detail of the gilt silk twist (it's fun to play with) on the back of the petals.

Yup - me too, and my eyes bled in sympathy.

HOW this piece is not mostly dried sweat, blood and tears, I have NO idea!

Are you proclaiming it done now? After what, 150 hours of work?

I could just shoot you that it is a non-period piece so you can't show it off on your garb! (But at least this way you can keep it safely in a box, eh?)

BTW - I'm hoping to land my first AT proficiency today! Woot!

Good luck at the AT panel. You'll do great.

I hope to send this piece in to the Piecework Magazine contest.

I'm sure you'd do well in the contest - good luck!

I got 'working knowledge' in both counted work and blackwork. :D
(Getting something paneled was a goal of mine for A&S 50, so yeah me!)

Thank you! I had a good time on it.

Granted, I may need to redefine my idea of "quick and easy project" (this one took between 150 and 160 hours)

It's all embroidery. It's a combination of stitches, and embroidery on the back of the pieces too. I think you can actually see the stitches on the enlargements.

Yes, I posted that before you'd tweaked the entry for thumbnails and description... :)

It's amazing. Beautiful work. And definitely not what most people would call a "quick and easy project". ;)

It's actually a brooch, it's about 2 1/2 inches in diameter. And thank you for the compliment. See you in chat. :)
